Happy Fourth!

Happy birthday America! Eh, whatever. Really, I'm patriotic, but I hate all the trappings that go along with things like this. Half of my mewling is an inditment of my own inaction. I live across the street from Mamaroneck Harbor, and the village puts on a whopper of a show. I was gone all weekend at an SCA event (which was a surreally depressing experience, but more on that later....) up near Lake George, and I stopped in Yorkton to meet my friends at the local Starbucks. This particular *$'s is an oasis of calm and the employees like where they work. The setting is as nice as any I've seen and I find myself up there on a near daily basis. I wrote most of my thesis at their tables and the employees know me well enough that I don't pay for half my drinks, a sort of caffinated buy-back, if you will. Anyway, hanging with them was cool but I left either way too late or way too early, depending on one's point of view. I couldn't sniff my apartment until after midnight, and I was better off just staying upcounty and watching the fireworks in Peekskill instead of driving around in circles slowly driving myself insane. Oh well, at least I was able to pet my kitty and relax for the rest of this week. It's only July 6th, but I'm looking at 2 months of lunacy starting August 1st, so I'm recharing as best I can between now and then. I won't have a day off from Aug 1st until September 30th, and I'll be working nearly 72 hours a week (or more) all in pursiut of the mighty dollar. I mean working the Ren Faire is cool, and I love having tickets to give people, but this could get crazy. Should make for a good post.
