Road Trip...

It's beena while since I posted, so I should begin with a recap of the previous three weeks. As usual, we've been getting hammered with the usual stressors: students transfering from other schools, some left-over clean up from the Fall, and new regulations heretofore unknown. All of this means a whopper of a registration period. I wish I could use the above to fully explian my abscence, but I'd be lying like a rug if I did. Although I started playing in October, my World of Warcraft obsession has metasitized into a full blown addiction. As such, my Internet usage has been primarily limited to slaying demons, undead, and boars (lots of freaking boars...). What little time I spend online beyond that is dedicated to find new pictures and videos of nude celebrities. My collection overflows at this point, and I may need a new hard drive.

I am making some progress with other things. Leaving my laptop at home has been a beneficial alteration of my lifestyle, and I generally go home after work to hop online. This means I cook at home, and avoid the exspense of eating out. I still need to work on waking up on time, since WoW sessions end around midnight. I wake up at 7:15 or so, and *boom* I need to buy breakfast and lunch instead of making something at home. I even bought a "Egg McMuffin maker" from the now closed Magic Chef store at the Palisades Mall, but I haven't even opened it. Progress (not perfection) is still the watchword. Other than that, things are good, and another vacation approaches. I first considered not going anywhere to save money, but all the fun people have had in Miami (Beach) for the Super Bowl made it impossible to not go. Also, I need to find a Spanish coin for the SCA event in March. I was planning a real trip, but forgot I volunteered to work on College Goal Sunday here in Yonkers, so I lost 5 days (including a weekend) so traveling to Prauge or B.A. was impossible. I thought of Cancun or even Belize, but both were too exspensive. Karl bought me a $50 gas card fo the trip, and with gas prices relatively low, I can do the whole trip for around $300 (80 for gas, 80 for the hostel, 120 for food and such...). I may even get to see Scott on the way back, so that's bonus.

In other news, I almost bought a house this week. I know I'm probably not quite ready for such a step, so I'm glad things fell through. Still, it is a step in the right direction. My dad is back in the USA, and we've had the chance to meet up. It's been a while since we have been close enough to get together regularly, almost 17 years. My father moved from Bethlehem, PA to Pittsburgh in 1989 (for 4 months he didn't tell me or Karl he had even moved; nice dad, really nice...) and then Germany in 1991. Back in the Leigh Valley, he's as close as he's been since '89.
His 65th (!) birthday is Feb 6th, and I'll head over to celebrate. The time spent with him in PA reminds me over and over the time I moved to the Poconos. Scary to think it's been 18 years this month since I moved there. That was literally half my life. Ironically, I only stopped working for the hotel 3 years ago. When I hit the ballon festival people greet me like I never left; it's hilarious, comforting, and bizarre all at the same time. Stranger still, the waitresses who know me from back then are still hot. (Hey Tracy!)

Anyway, I'll will attempt to keep a running blog of my trip, rather then an exstensive wrap-up. I'll also try to do strange things like use my Sprint card to play WoW while on the beach and try to ask women to dinner, etc. I would also like to write a few short stories swimming in my head, such as my trip to Las Vegas, what happened on 9/11, the winter without... winter, and losing my virginity. There's a regularlly published Gen-X anthology, and I would love to have one of my stories published. I'll post the stories here first (but only after I've copywrited them...) and see if my friends and family like what I've written.
